Teaching Kids How to Properly Store Their Toys

It is a natural fact that children love playing with toys. But this can sometimes be a headache for parents. After little Tommy or little Jane has had enough playing, they usually leave their playthings scattered around the house. You either suddenly find yourself sitting on a toy truck stuck between the sofa cushions or step on a tiny stuffed animal as you make your way down the stairs. It can get frustrating, and it is something that you need to address. If your children are not properly instructed on how to store their things properly, this could be an unpleasant habit that could be carried into adulthood.

An effective way to teach your kids how to store their toys is by turning it into a fun game. After play time, you can challenge your kids to pick up as many scattered toys as they can and place it in plastic bins. To make the game more challenging and to teach them how to organise their things, label each bin according to the kind of toy that should be placed inside it. You could label according to size or according to kind. Dolls could be in one bin and stuffed toys could be in another. After the game, the one who gets to place the most number of toys in the correct bins is declared the winner. You and your children can then store these bins in a toy closet. Through this kind of fun activity, storing their toys becomes a positive experience, which encourages them to do it more often.
